Frank Arnold Nelson, 95, of Viera, Florida, passed away Sunday, March 12, 2023 with his family at his side.

He was born to the late Ralph and Helen Nelson on October 6, 1927 in Akron, Ohio. Frank married Delores (nee Kramer) on June 11, 1950 and celebrated their 72nd anniversary with a family gathering last year.   Frank and Delores have lived in Akron, Bath, and Avon Lake, Ohio; and Bonita Springs and the Indian River Colony Club in Viera, Florida.

Frank graduated High School from Bob Jones Academy and enlisted in the US Navy during World War II.   After the war, he attended the University of Akron and received his BS in Music Education.  He taught high school and elementary music and was the band director at Copley, South, North, Kenmore, and Firestone High Schools in the Akron City School districts.   He also earned his Masters of Science in Education from Kent State University.  Over a 30 year career as a high school band director, he encouraged thousands of students in concerts, concert trips nationwide and throughout Europe.

Upon retiring from education, he expanded his other interests and attended the American University for degrees in Finance, while becoming a registered Chartered Financial Planner.  Frank opened his own advisory group, The Financial Planners of Bath.  Over the next thirty years Frank helped countless people and families reach their financial goals.

Frank was an avid golfer, private pilot, snow skier, photographer, traveler, and music lover.  He directed many swing and church choirs in the Akron area, guest conducted many ensembles  and at times sang in the Cleveland Orchestra Chorus. Frank, a gregarious person, made many friends in the music and finance industries.  He touched so many souls who felt instantly close to him.

Frank is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Delores Nelson; and brother Carl (Barbara) of Clinton, OH;  sons Dan (Dora) of Rockledge, FL; Scott (Catherine) of Summerfield, FL; and Richard (Michelle) of Bay Village, OH; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A graveside honor service will be held on March 22 at 11:00 am at the Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Mims, Florida.
