Francis Circosta, Jr.
Francis Circosta Jr. (Junie), age 92, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, July 21, 2022, with his loving daughter, Maria, by his side.
Frank was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. He enlisted with the United States Air Force in August, 1946 and was honorably discharged as a Private First Class-5 in August 1949 from the United States Army. He earned Sharp-shooter and Marksman badges as well as a WWII Victory Medal and a Good Conduct Medal.
He was an avid boxer, earning three regional Welterweight Division Golden Glove Awards (1945, 1946 and 1951).
Frank was employed by the US Government as a Civilian Communications Specialist with the U.S. Department of Defense on Governor's Island and, after moving to Newburgh, with the USMA at West Point. He later transferred to Patrick Airforce Base in Brevard County, Florida, where he retired after having served with the U.S. Department of Defense for 30 years.
Frank was a lifelong member of the Vincent F. Atene Post VFW - 3230 and the American Legion Post 0163. He was also an active member of the Satellite Beach Moose Lodge #2367, serving in various administrative positions from 1994-2000. He loved to cook for Italian Dinner nights, organize Easter Egg hunts and visits with Santa for the kids, various kinds of raffles and anything else that involved fundraising to give back to the community. He was also instrumental in initiating and successfully sponsoring the Lodge's first Mooseheart child.
Frank is survived by his children Joanne (Ted), Frankie, and Maria. He also leaves behind two grandchildren, David and Brian, and two great-grandchildren, Alec and Eli. Frank is predeceased by his wife, Susan, and son, Shawn.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Satellite Beach Moose Lodge on August 6, 2022 at 12 pm.
In addition, a Memorial Service will be held at Goodwill Church located in Montgomery, New York, on September 23, 2022 at 10 am. Burial will follow at the Orange County Veterans Cemetery in Goshen, NY.
