Obituary

Florana (Ana) Rodriguez aka Chinky, of Tampa, Florida was 76 when she passed peacefully surrounded by her immediate family October 14, 2022. She suffered from many illnesses over her life; from epilepsy to diabetes and heart disease. But it was her 10 year battle with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis that abruptly ended her struggles.

Florana was born on October 29, 1945 to Ines and Pablo Rodriguez in Brooklyn, New York. In 1968 she met Jorge (George) Ricardo Bobbio. Within six months they married and gave birth to their first child, Agnes in 1969. During her journey into motherhood, she added two more children, George (1971) and Sally (1973) - to love and cherish.

Family was important to her and every major decision she made about her life revolved around the family. It was important for her to see the world and experience life through shared experiences with her children.

As a young married woman, she relocated to central Florida in pursuit of a more fruitful life for her children. She considered Tampa her home and felt strong connections to her roots in Melbourne, Florida where she raised her children.

She worked several careers in her lifetime, but it was her artistry in dressmaking that she is most remembered for. She has created many original designs that included wedding gowns for her daughters, nieces, and several acquaintances. She took that passion and went on to study Fashion Design at Brevard Community College.

Florana, a faithful Christian dedicated her life to teaching her children and grandchildren about Jesus. She was also known for the unconditional love she shared for her family. She had a big personality; was strong-willed, determined and challenged everyone. To know her is to know her amplified voice calling your name; boisterous laugh when telling a story; and receiving a sweet off-key "Happy Birthday" serenade.

She will always be known as that aunt, grandmother and mom that never forgot an anniversary or birthday. She was known for welcoming all to her home with warmth and love. We will miss her greatly.

Florana was preceded in death by her mother Inez Rodriguez, father Pablo Rodriguez, brother Raymond Rodriguez and beloved husband George Bobbio.

She is survived by her sisters Florence Martinez and Margaret Patel. Her three children Agnes, George and Sally; their spouses Mark, Edward and Kisha. Florana is also survived by her grandchildren Ammon, Samuel, Ariel, Sebastian, Sophia, Daniel, Isis, Lavender and a host of nieces and nephews.
