Evelyn Hollis Casner, 89, stepped up and out of this world on January 17, 2020 to meet her Savoir and join her husband John, who went on ahead August 16, 2019, on the celestial dance floor.  With a smile for everyone, and an amazing passion for always remembering your name, she brightened many a day.

Evelyn was born to the late John Hollis and Katheryn Sako Hollis on August 8, 1930 in Mahanoy City, PA. She grew up there, graduated from Mahanoy High School in 1948. The times and finances didn't allow her to go on to higher education, but her avid reading and quest for knowledge made her an always informed, articulate woman.

Evelyn married John Casner on June 24, 1950, 69 years of life together. She is survived by her children, CJ Casner, of Melbourne, FL and Bruce Casner, of Jeffersonton, VA. Her loving heart will be missed.

Evelyn and John left Pennsylvania in 1976, moving south to follow John's career opportunities in Virginia, North Carolina and Mississippi. Everywhere they went Evelyn created a beautiful, loving home, welcoming friends and family.

In 1990 Evelyn and John retired to New Bern, NC. There they became vibrant members of the community, particularly at Riverdale United Methodist.

In 2016 they moved to Victoria Landing in Melbourne, FL to be nearer to their daughter CJ. They loved the river view from their apartment and the many activities and loving care they received there.  Many of staff and residents fondly remember Evelyn's beautiful smile and her being the first one to welcome them, remember their name and truly care about their wellbeing.

There will be a memorial service at 1 pm on Tuesday, February 4 ^th at Davis-Seawinds, 560 Montreal Avenue, Melbourne, FL. At a later date John and Evelyn's ashes will be cast together to the seas at the Point in Cape Hatteras, NC.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made in her honor to Hospice of St. Francis or Riverdale United Methodist Church in New Bern, NC
