Eudena "Dean" Briggs, also known to many as "Bobbie", 91, of Indian Harbour
Beach, went to be with our Lord on Saturday, May 18, 2019. She was surrounded
by her loving family.
She was born to the late Alva & Fannie Bryant on November 27, 1927 in
Winnsboro, SC. The family later moved to Gastonia. NC when she was a teen.
Dean attended Evans College of Commerce and studied secretarial courses. She
married James Briggs and shared a wonderful life together that spans 60+ years.
They lived in Mobile, AL and briefly in Warner Robbins, GA before moving to
Indian Harbour Beach, FL in 1966 where they set roots and made it their home
ever since. This is where they worked, raised their family, and retired. Dean was
a secretary in the Civil Service at PAFB and worked for the 2nd Combat
Communications Group until she retired in 1990.
Dean was a children's Sunday School Teacher at The First Baptist Church of
Indialantic for many years. She was also a Girl Scout Troup Leader as well as a
Cub Scout Leader. Interacting with children was her special gift as she had a
natural love for them and they for her. She was an avid reader since childhood
and loved her books. What she loved most of all was her family. She was the
best wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend anyone could ask
for. The neighborhood kids flocked to the Briggs home as everyone was always
made welcome and knew they were glad to see them.
She is survived by her husband, James Briggs; her children Anne (Jay) Humphreys
of Merritt Island; and Jimmy Briggs of Indian Harbour Beach. She is also survived
by ten grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Dean was preceded in death
by two of her children, Craig Phillips and Beth Peronard.
The family will be honoring her memory late Sunday afternoon, May 26, at the
