Obituary

Emilio A. Burke-Mayers, 76, of Palm Bay, died on Sunday, June 9 with his wife by his side.

He was born on August 7, 1947, in Colón, Panama. Emilio received his Bachelor's degree while in Panama and moved to the United States as a young adult. He married Awilda in 1982, and they lived together in New York before relocating to Palm Bay, Fl in 1994.

Emilio was a Direct Care Professional until he retired in 2012 and was passionate about working with underprivileged youth.

Emilio was an active member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, where he served on several ministries. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus where he was honored as Grand Knight from 2006-2008.  Emilio loved music and played congas and several other instruments during his lifetime.

Emilio is survived by his wife Awilda and his children, Elizabeth (Raul) Stamp; Robert (Tonya) Cabello; Anthony (Monique) Burke; Omar Jean-Louis, Melissa (Allen) Welsh; Emilio (Jocelin) Burke. He is also survived by his 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A Mass will be held at 11am on Saturday, June 29th at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church with a reception at the church immediately following.
