Emilie Anna Antonia Widmayer passed away peacefully Saturday, January 30, 2021 at her home in Melbourne Beach, Florida at the age of 96.  She was born October 22, 1924 in Vienna Austria to the late Karl & Hermine Schwanzer.  She is proceeded in death by her loving husband of 66 years, Lyle A. Widmayer and her Great Granddaughter, Emily Widmayer.  Emilie leaves memories to be cherished by her son, Warren Widmayer (Bernice); Grandsons; Eric Widmayer (Jennifer), Brian Widmayer (Molly); Great Grandchildren; Joseph, Shauna & William Widmayer, Step Great Grandson, Dominic LeBlanc & a host of nieces and nephews.  She was proceeded in death by her sisters; Herma Jobstl, Ludmilla Deming and Gertrude Svec.

Emilie loved her family! She traveled extensively throughout her life with her husband, Lyle to 48 states of the United States and to Austria and various parts of Europe.  Emilie nicknamed "Spitfire" lived an independent happy life full of adventure until the end.  She was an avid Bridge Player and loved gardening, sewing and cooking for her family.

Emilie earned a degree in Commerce and Foreign Trade in Austria.  She was employed as an English Interpreter/Translator for the US Military during WWII and held the liason responsibilities between the Austrian Civilian work force employees and the military authorities of the Rail Transportation Co.  Emilie became a proud citizen of the United States March 7, 1952.  She was also a Precinct Captain of the Republican Party in Kentucky where she canvassed to help get Mitch McConnell elected to his first position as Jefferson County Judge/Executive in Louisville, KY.

Interment will be held at Arlington National Cemetery.  We deeply appreciate the care that Hospice of Health First-Melbourne, especially nurse Dominique extended to Emilie in her last two weeks of her life.  Condolences may be offered @ www.davisseawinds.com.
