Ellen R. Clare, 97 passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at Discovery Village of Melbourne. Ellen was born Ellen Virginia Russell on September 26, 1922 in Downingtown, Pennsylvania to the late Rodney and Florence Russell. She was a registered nurse who graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing and was an Army Cadet Nurse during WWII. At the end of WWII, Ellen married a British merchant marine officer, Frank Clare. They were married for forty one years until Frank's passing in 1987. In 1993, Ellen married a renowned French Chef, Jacques de Chanteloup. They were married for seventeen years until Jacques' passing in 2009.
Ellen loved to travel and had traveled extensively. In her later years, she loved to play bingo and watch Wheel of Fortune. She was a wonderful story teller. Most of all, she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and many friends. She was a loving mother, grandmother and a loyal friend.
Ellen is survived by her children Mary Ellen Hursh, Frank Clare and Louis Clare, daughter-in-law Michele Clare, step daughters Martine Cipriani and Annie Carcich, and grand children Steven, Andrew, Ashleigh, Jennifer and Jonathan, and niece Linda Russell Wright and nephew Rodney John Russell. She was dearly loved by family and friends and will be greatly missed. "Love you forever."
