Melbourne
Elizabeth "Betty" Trainer, 76, died peacefully at home in Melbourne on March 12 surrounded by family and friends. Betty was born on September 25, 1936 in Darby, PA to Delia Nix and James Tarpey. Twice married, Betty raised her five children in Levittown, PA. She was widowed in 1981 and she embarked on a career selling real estate for Century 21. Longing for a warmer climate, she packed her car and moved to Florida in 1993, where she sold men's clothing for Dillard's Department Store until her retirement. Betty was a life-long avid reader, and her favorite place was the Suntree/Viera Library. She was always keen to discuss current events and had a sharp mind for finance and economics. Her family and friends relied on her for advice and wisdom. In her final days, Betty was proud to say that she lived a good life and died a happy and blessed woman for having the opportunity to tell those she loved how much they meant to her.
Betty is survived by her five children Elizabeth Gerhart, Christina Clementi, Jeanne Gaspar, Thomas Trainer, and Lisa Layport; daughter-in-law Jackie Trainer, son-in-law Roy Van Eick; seven grandchildren, Michelle, Jackie and Steven Gerhart, Jessica Layport, Ian Delaware, Julia Trainer, and Tia Rose Gaspar; and one great grand child, Timothy Paul; her brother James Tarpey, her sister-in-laws Mary Ann Tarpey and Bernie Donahue, nephew Steve Tarpey, her best friend Sandy and her beloved cat Rosie.
