Elizabeth L. Livermore Diaz, 78 died Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at Kindred Hospital Melbourne from complications related to her COPD and metastatic lung cancer. Cremation rites accorded.
She is survived by her daughters, Anita Filomena-Vaidya and husband Jalil, and Margaret Bright and husband Martin; son Kevin Heraly and wife Therese; granddaughters Tina and Tara, grandsons Nicholas, John, Justinn and Joshua, 9 great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Virginia Livermore; and a host of long-time and treasured friends.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister-in-law, Robert L. Livermore and wife Dorothy, and Charles Livermore.
Born in Chicago, Illinois January 23, 1938 the daughter of Ernest G. and Bertha Markewitch Livermore, Elizabeth worked in the service, sales, and manufacturing industries. In her early years she managed small restaurants at two retail stores, owned a janitorial service, and owned and operated a resale store. Elizabeth eventually settled in at Kraft Foods performing a variety of positions including being one of the first women to drive a fork lift at the plant, of which she was fiercely proud. She was one hard worker and being a woman never stopped her from moving forward!
In her early years Elizabeth was an avid Girl Scout Leader, a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Women of the Moose Female Auxiliary, and the VFW. Elizabeth loved to be involved in most everything around her, and to contribute her helping hands and cheerful smile where she could.
Once Elizabeth retired from Kraft Foods in the late 1990's, she made her way down the East Coast of Florida to Melbourne and Land Yacht Harbor where she truly blossomed! Her love of the outdoors led to a grounds position where she worked with others to make the beautification of Land Yacht Harbor a reality. From the rock garden to the beautiful plantings around the park, Elizabeth's vision of beauty for LYH never ceased.
Known for her dedication and hard work, she served as VP at Land Yacht Harbor, and on the Board of Directors for both Land Yacht Harbor and Wickham Park Senior Center. She volunteered many summers cooking at a camp for special needs children, and during the winter volunteered in activities at both LYH and the Senior Center. During her spare time her presence at local flea markets, thrift shops and garage sales was well known by all her friends who dared answer the call "Want to go for a ride?" Oh, how she loved a bargain, even when she didn't need it!
Elizabeth was strong in her faith and a member of Ascension Catholic Church in Melbourne. She was fierce, willful, determined, and strong! To all who knew her, she was unique, loving, silly and fun, but most of all a caring individual who touched the lives of everyone she met. She never failed to see the good in everyone, and was a woman you wanted by your side. Her sense of humor, quick wit, and big heart will be missed by all. Elizabeth lived life to the fullest, and did it in a way that made her happy.
Elizabeth believed in living life to the fullest and not letting it pass her by. One little saying which hung in her home read . . . "Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting Holy sh*t . . . what a ride!" She was a beautiful person, and will be forever in our hearts.
