Elisabeth S. McCallum Toepler, 86 went to be with her heavenly father on Saturday, January 17, 2015. "Betty" was born on May 15, 1928 in Toronto, Canada and was raised in Detroit, Michigan. She earned both her undergraduate degree in Elementary Education and her Master of Arts in Teaching from Michigan State University. She taught in the South Lake School District for 28 years and touched the lives of many students and mentored many teachers as well as parents.
Upon her retirement she relocated to the Melbourne, FL area to be close to her children and grandchildren. Betty continued her life of service throughout her retirement by volunteering for numerous organizations. Betty volunteered at Hospice in Melbourne for 21 years, right up to the time of her passing. She also devoted much time to Eastminster Presbyterian Church, her Sorority (Alpha Delta Kappa), and the Viera Hospital.
Betty led a life of service and devotion to others. Betty was a pillar of strength, love and guidance to her family and friends and no words can ever express the depth of our loss.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years Marvin F. Toepler, daughter Patti Gressett, son Robert Toepler (Margie), Grandchildren Jason Toepler (Marissa) of Ft. Meyers, Melissa Toepler and Candice Gressett. Sisters Marilyn Gray of Macomb, MI and Joyce Lippert of Mildmay, Ontario.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Laverne (Pearl) and Maude McCallum her son Timothy Toepler, her brother Alan McCallum, sister Lorraine McCallum Harper and son-in-law, Jim Gressett.
A celebration of life will be held at Eastminster Presbyterian Church, Indialantic, FL on Saturday, January 31st at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Betty's name to the William Childs Hospice House, Palm Bay, FL. Online condolences may be shared at www.davisseawinds.com.
