Obituary

E. Diane Bakeman, 77, of Melbourne, Florida , was called to Heaven on February 20, 2022.

Diane was born on Easter morning, April 9, 1944 to Norman and Elda Miller in Schenectady, New York. Diane's early childhood was spent in Castleton-on-Hudson, New York but the family moved to Port Charlotte, Florida when she was 12. She graduated Charlotte High School in 1962.  After graduating high school, she moved to Orlando and enrolled in Jones Business College where she graduated with an Executive Secretary Degree. While in Orlando, she met and fell in love with Airman 2nd Class, Frank Bakeman, Jr. Wedding bells chimed on August 10, 1963, when Diane and Frank pledged their love for each other for all of eternity surrounded by family and friends. In 1967, Diane and Frank moved to Melbourne, Florida. Laurie Anne Bakeman, completed their family trio on November 14, 1972.

Diane lived Mark 12:30-31 to it's fullest! She loved God and loved people! Diane and Frank loved to greet people and make them feel the immediate love and warmth. They served on the Greeting Commitee to their former church, River Run Christian Church and current church, Eau Gallie First Baptist Church. Passionately, she researched topics ranging from her family tree to whatever topic they were studying in Sunday School. People were always drawn to her friendly personality and enjoyed watching her worshiping wholeheartedly. Prayer was an intrinsic part of her daily life. She and Frank would pray every day at 6am, when they woke up and every evening before they went to sleep, even when she was in the hospital! She lived and breathed Jesus!

About a half hour after singing, "It is Well with My Soul", and praying with Pastor Mark Harpold, neighbors Hector and Margie, and Frank and Laurie she passed peacefully on Sunday, February 20, 2022. Frank and Laurie were holding Diane's hands as she breathed her last earthly breath and entered into to heaven to hear God say, "Well done, Good and Faithful Servant".

Diane is preceeded in death by her parents, Norman and Elda Miller, her sister Barbara Miller Blair, and her grandson Nathan Andrew Buchanan. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Frank, her daughter Laurie Buchanan and her husband Charles "Buck" Buchanan, and her grandchildren, Cole Buchanan and Brianna Buchanan.

Diane's Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, March 6, 2022 at 3pm at Eau Gallie 1 st Baptist Church, 1501 W Eau Gallie Blvd . Melbourne , FL 32935. A Live Feed will be available for viewing at home on the Eau Gallie 1 st Baptist Youtube channel.
