Edward J Mayer Sr's Obituary
Edward Mayer,79, of Melbourne, died on Sunday, December 16, with family by his side.
He was born to the late Edward Mayer and Dorothy Goss on February 27, 1939, in New Rochelle NY. Ed graduated from New Rochelle High School. He married Caroline Hammel in 1963 and they lived in Carmel NY for 46 years until relocating to Melbourne, Florida.
Ed worked in his family's automobile dealership, later changing his career to lumber and home improvement. He loved to help "the little old lady that was unclear of what she needed."
Ed loved motorcycles, a passion he passed on to his three sons.
Ed is survived by his wife of 55 years and three sons. Michael Mayer of Melbourne, Florida, Scott Mayer of Carmel, New York, and Eric Mayer of Pleasant Valley, New York. He is also survived by five grandchildren. Four boys and one girl. Michael, Keith, Timothy, Ian, and Melissa.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
