Douglas David Gingrich, 74, departed this life on Wednesday, April 23, 2014, in Palm Bay, FL. Born in Princeton, IL, and raised in Princeville, IL, Doug was the beloved child the late Orlyn and Margaret Reiner - Gingrich. He attended the University of North Colorado and furthered his studies at the University of Wisconsin, receiving a PhD in Psychology. Doug will be remembered for being a brilliant professor whom was very generous and faithful. Some of his hobbies included: collecting and dealing antiques, especially automobiles. Doug was a classic car enthusiast that was a proud member of many car clubs. He also adored breeding St. Bernard's and Poodles with his late wife, Devee. Doug relocated to Brevard County, FL in 2000 where he enjoyed the beautiful climate, traveling and relaxing. He leaves memories to be cherished by his long time friend and companion, Laura Leuthold; sister, Sandra Gingrich and nieces and nephews. A Gathering of Friends will be held from 4p.m. to 4:30p.m on Monday, April 28th at Davis Seawinds Funeral Home in Melbourne with a Celebration of Doug's Life beginning at 4:30p.m. Inurnment will take place in Princeville, IL at a later date.
