Donna Jean (Hamel) Bowes, 72, after a long battle with cancer, passed away peacefully in Palm Bay, Florida, in the company of her loving family on December 2, 2025. Daughter of Anthony and Lillian (Deveney) Hamel, Donna was born in Lynn, Massachusetts on July 27, 1953. She married Clayton (Skip) Bowes on July 12, 1975 and they recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary together before her passing. She went through school in Lynn, Massachusetts and after moving to Maine with her husband, attended college in Bangor, Maine.

A hard worker, Donna had many careers in her lifetime ranging from stay-at-home-mom and farmer to baker, factory and retail worker, printer, toll booth operator and later supervisor at the New Hampshire Department of Transportation. After retiring from the New Hampshire DOT she moved to Palm Bay, Florida with her husband to enjoy sunshine, beaches, visits from family and friends, and many trips together.

Donna is survived by her husband of 50 years, Clayton (Skip) Bowes; her sisters, MaryEllen Martin, Rose Harrington, and Joyce LaPierre; her children and their families; Carla Bowes and Darren Williams, and their son Connor; Jeff and Jenna Bowes, and their children Nicolas, Casey, Heather and Dustin; and Jason and Christy Livingston, and their children Christian, Alex, and Sophia; as well as many great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. Donna was predeceased by her brother Robert Hamel Sr.

She will be especially remembered and missed for her loving and generous spirit, her heartfelt advocacy of anyone she cared about, and her mischievous sense of humor.

As she did not wish to have a wake or funeral, celebrations of life will be held in her memory during the summer of 2026 at a place and time to be determined later.
