Obituary

Donald James Honeycutt, 92, of Melbourne FL, was called home to Our Lord September 25,2024 peacefully, surrounded by his family in Melbourne.

Mr. Honeycutt was born July 31,1932 to the late Horace and Alice Honeycutt in Indianapolis IN.

He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War, and was awarded the Korean Service Ribbon 1 Star, China Service Medal, and United Nations Service Medal. He worked for Northrup on the Apollo Rocket program at NASA at Cape Canaveral and had his own businesses in the electronics field. He was very active with the community in Boy Scouts and The Sertoma Club service organization.

He is preceded in death by both his parents, his brother Robert (Bob) Honeycutt, his daughter in law Sharon Honeycutt, and his great grandson Richard Honeycutt.

He is survived by his loving, devoted wife of 70 years Lois M Honeycutt, sons Steven Honeycutt of Folkston GA, David Honeycutt and his wife Rebecca Honeycutt of Forest VA, William (Bill) Honeycutt and his wife Wendy Honeycutt of Melbourne FL, Daughter Susan Povey and her husband Nicholas Povey of UK, grandchildren Tari Honeycutt of Folkston GA, Christina Frary of Asheville NC, grandsons Adam Povey of UK, Karl Povey of UK, Kenneth Honeycutt of CA, Donald Honeycutt of FL,  James (Jimmy) Honeycutt of FL, Timothy Sollenberger, Olivia Chambers, John Sollenberger, Frank Sollenberger, nephews Jeff Nicla (Veronica), Tim Nicla (Beth), Brian Nicla (Nichol), and Tom Nicla (Stacey).

Mr. Honeycutt loved spending time with his family, and his church family. He and Lois were also founding members of First Baptist Church Indialantic.

The family would like to thank everyone for the condolences received.

A small service honoring Donald will be held on Friday, October 18, 2024 at 6:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Melbourne Memorial Garden, 3301 Dairy Rd, Melbourne, FL 32904.
