David "Dave" Walter Grover, 78, of Melbourne Beach, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 27, 2024 with his family by his side. He was born to the late Damon and Euna (June) Grover on September 3, 1946, in Miami Beach, FL.
Dave graduated from Satellite High School in 1965 and received his bachelor's in political science from Florida Atlantic University, where he was student body president. He married Linda (Baron) in 1977 and they settled in Melbourne Beach.
Dave was the owner of Sun Harbor Nursery in Indian Harbor Beach, which he started in the early 1970s and lovingly operated for 50 years. He became a certified Professional Nurseryman and enjoyed helping the community with their gardening needs. He served as president of the FNGA (Florida Nurseryman and Growers Association). He was proud to pass his nurseryman legacy onto his son Chris.
He attended the Tabernacle Church in the late 1970s and accepted his Lord and Savior Jesus and also met his wife Linda. He became one of the original members of the Community Chapel by the Sea, serving as a Deacon and Elder, as well as helping with the youth programs during his children's upbringing.
"Dave the Wave" was a soul surfer that traveled the world looking for the perfect wave, one of the first surfers in Indian Harbor Beach, and started the Harbor Beach Surf Club. He was an Eagle Scout and a Troop 320 Lifer, he participated in Prison ministries. He was also a real estate broker. He enjoyed leisure time in Beech Mountain, NC and Hawaii.
Throughout his life with Linda, he cherished his children and grandchildren and cheered them on in their numerous activities. He is survived his wife Linda and his children, Christi (Justin) Winn, Leah (Brian) Parchinski, April (Lou) Exline, and Chris (Tracy) Grover. He is also survived by his many grandchildren, sister-in-law Linda Baron, and others.
The memorial service for friends and family will be held Saturday November 30, 2024 at 3 pm at the Community Chapel by the Sea, 8240 S. Hwy A1A, Melbourne Beach, FL 32951.
The Celebration of Life Paddle out will be held at 10:30 am on December 14, 2024 at Bicentennial Beach Park, 2 Ocean Dunes Dr, Indian Harbour Beach, FL 32937
