Nugent, Sr

Mr. Darryl D. Nugent Sr. was born on January 31, 1950, to the late Gregory D. Nugent and Esther D. Nugent in New York City, New York.
Darryl received his formal education through Queens, New York Public School system, graduating from Springfield Gardens High School. Furthering his higher education, he attended New York Institute of Technology for a brief time, prior to entering the United States Navy in 1969 where he began his career. Darryl achieved the rank of ETC (SW) Chief Petty Officer, later retiring with an honorary discharge after twenty-two years of service. During his tenure, Darryl Sr., was the recipient of many achievement awards and ribbons of recognition, to include but not limited to Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and was proud to serve his country.
Darryl accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age with New Hope Lutheran Church in Queens, New York. He further exemplified his commitment to serve the Lord through his service to his church community. Darryl was baptized and confirmed a member of The Jesus Christ Latter-Day Saints Church in Melbourne, FL on July 5, 2008. Darryl shared his talents and served in many capacities as a member of the church including; finance clerk, greeter, and security specialist. Darryl was asked on several occasions to narrate our ward Christmas devotionals, because of his deep distinct voice. He was ordained a high priest in 2011. Darryl Sr. was a blessed child of God with seventy- two years and departed life on September 6th, 2022.
As an only child, Darryl Sr., leaves to cherish fifty-one years of fond memories with his High School Sweetheart and loving wife, Audrey G. Hawkins Nugent, his two sons Darryl Jr. and Kyle, cousins and extended family and friends.
