Obituary

Danny D'Agostino passed away peacefully on December 22, 2025.

Danny D'Agostino was born in Baltimore, Maryland to Alex and June D'Agostino.  He demonstrated unwavering dedication throughout his life to both music and a distinguished career in aerospace safety and engineering.

Danny graduated from Virgil I. Grissom High School in Huntsville, Alabama (Class of 1974) and later from the University of Alabama.  He began his professional career at USBI as a quality engineer supporting NASA's Space Shuttle Program at the Marshall Space Flight Center.  Following the Challenger accident, Danny played a key role in the Solid Rocket Booster Design Recertification process, serving as a vendor quality engineer and auditor during a pivotal chapter of the Shuttle Program.

With the Shuttle's return to flight, Danny transferred to Florida, where he supported Kennedy Space Center operations while working for Pratt & Whitney and later United Space Alliance.  Over the years he took responsibility for several critical sub-elements of NASA's Solid Rocket Booster including the Thrust Vector Control System, the Pyro Destruct System and the Flight Fastener Assurance Program.  Danny traveled extensively across the country in this Vendor Quality Role performing supplier facility audits to assure products conformed to engineering design requirements.  This often led to the quality side of failure investigations if/when products failed testing or inspection.  Widely respected for his expertise, dedication, and 40 year commitment to mission safety, Danny earned numerous accolades and awards throughout his distinguished career.

After the conclusion of the Shuttle Program, Danny briefly pursued a second career as a professional over the road truck driver before returning to aerospace.  He joined Bastion Technologies as the MSFC representative at Cape Canaveral, supporting NASA's Artemis Return to Space Program.  In this role, he expanded his integrations work with the the Artemis Core Stage as part of NASA's  Propulsion Design Center.  Danny was instrumental in developing quality related products and in ensuring proper implementation of design integration requirements for Artemis flight operations.

Beyond his professional achievements, Danny was an accomplished accordionist and a member of the choir at Trinity Wellspring Church in Satellite Beach, Florida.  His love of music and worship enriched the lives of those around him.

Danny is survived by his children Jennifer and Jessica D'Agostino of Satellite Beach; his son Joe D'Agostino of Atlanta; his grandson Andrew D'Agostino of Satellite Beach; and his sister Lisa D'Agostino of Huntsville, Alabama.
