Obituary

Corby Francis Lewis

Corby Francis Lewis, born in Kalamazoo, Michigan, passed away peacefully in Melbourne, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis (Whitey) and Irine (Swain) Lewis, his wife, Elizabeth (Liz) (Jarrett) Lewis, and his brother, Robert (Bob) Lewis.

A Marine veteran, Corby served 25 years, including three tours in Vietnam. One of his fondest memories was meeting John Wayne and being responsible for the actor's safety for a day. Known for his discipline and dry sense of humor, he often asked, "How much is this going to cost me?"

He is survived by his children, Robert (Karri) Lewis and Anne (Mike) Geerligs; and grandchildren, Nick (Cassidy) Geerligs, Noah Geerligs, and Brandon Lewis.

Corby loved coffee, ice cream, upside-down pineapple cake, classic John Wayne movies, and visits to the zoo, where he delighted in the birds' colors and songs.

He will be remembered for his courage, humor, and the stories and memories he leaves with his family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516 in honor of Corby Lewis.
