Carol M. Mathison, 83, of Palm Bay, passed away, Saturday, July 1, 2023.

She was born to the late Arthur and Eleanor Sargent on March 17, 1940, in Pittsburg, PA.  Carol graduated from Russell Sage College with a B.S. in Physical Therapy in 1962.  She also then graduated from Springfield College in Springfield, MA with a M.S. in Counseling and Psychological Services.  Carol enrolled in the University of Massachusetts Doctoral Degree Program in Education in 1989.  She was an Academic Counselor at Springfield Technical Community College in Springfield, MA for 29 years.

She was married to William A. Mathison on July 6, 1963.  They retired to Palm Bay, FL in 2010.

In addition to her work at the college, Carol co-founded the Academy Hill School, which today is known as the New Academy Hill School located at 1190 Liberty St, Springfield, MA 01104.

Carol is survived by her husband William Mathison, her daughter Amy Mathison Start, her son Scott, and grandchildren Craig and Andrew.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at 11:00 am Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 50 W Strawbridge Ave. Melbourne, FL 32901.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Academy Hill School at the above address.
