Carl C. Shannon Jr., 92, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 10, 2012.
Carl was born to the late Carl Sr. and Hazel (McClure) Shannon on March 20, 1920. Mr. Shannon entered the US Army on October 27, 1942 in Ft. Hayes, Ohio; served in Engalnd; France; and Belgium. He was wounded in action in Germany, November 30, 1944 and was held captive for 5 months. Cpl. Carl was awarded the Purple Heart with Cluster, three Battle Stars, Combat Inf. Badge and the Good Conduct Medal.
Following his honorable service, Carl and his wife, Beulah relocated to Brevard County in November of 1960. Carl was an electrician for Pan American World Airways based in Cape Canaveral, FL. He retired after 27 years of dedication.
Mr. Shannon was a true man of faith and proud parishioner of the Eau Gallie First Baptist Church of Eau Gallie, FL for 51 years.
He leaves behind his cherished family; sons, Roger and his wife, Kaye of Viera, FL and Len and his wife, Pam of Melbourne, FL; grandchildren, Andrea and her husband, Andrew Lee of Melbourne, FL and Noel Shannon of Melbourne, FL; adoring great-great grandchildren, Alexandria, Branden, Channelle Lee and Parker Shannon-Vaughn.
Carl was predeceased by his beloved wife, Beulah in October of 1988.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 from 5 to 7PM at Davis-Seawinds Funeral Home in Melbourne. Funeral Services will be celebrated 11AM on Thursday, November 15, 2012 at Davis Seawinds Funeral Home. Interment with military honors will take place at Florida Memorial Gardens in Rockledge.
