Bobbie Shortridge was born in Rainbow Springs, North Carolina and grew up in Grundy Virginia where she met her husband of 58 years, Elmer Paul Shortridge (Paul). Bobbie passed away peacefully on Monday January 13th at Holmes Regional Hospital. She is preceded by her husband (Paul), son Paul, infant daughter Theresa, and brother James Grizzle. Bobbie went to nursing school in Abington Virginia and became a registered nurse. The couple was married in December 1952 after Paul returned from Okinawa. They raised 3 children, Paul, Angela (Oswalt), and Kyle in Valparaiso Indiana where she worked as a visiting nurse and spent years volunteering in Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts. They retired to Grant Alabama and enjoyed their grandchildren, Kelsey and Cailin Shortridge, Robert, Elizabeth, and Emily Oswalt, and Jessica and Evan Shortridge as well as many hours on the golf course. Bobbie was an Eastern Star member as well as a Red Hatter and garden club officer. She loved to travel and believed you could hug anyone you want too. She always saw the good in everyone and was quick to praise and encourage. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and her spirit will live on through those whose lives she has touched. Viewing will be from 2:30 to 3:30 and a service will be held at 3:30 both at Lake Washington Fellowship Church on 4050 Lake Washington Rd. Melbourne, Florida.
