Blanche Hand Lorber was born on October 30, 1925, in Leesburg, New Jersey. During WWII, she joined the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps and graduated with an RN from Maryview Hospital, a division of William and Mary College. She met WW2 Army Veteran John Lorber and was married September 4, 1948, in Portsmouth, VA. She and John raised their 3 children in VA. Blanche worked for the Navy and retired as head nurse after 45 years. Blanche loved working in her beautiful flower garden. She also enjoyed making pickles, long walks in her neighborhood, and singing in the choir at Monumental Methodist Church. The couple moved to Florida in 2010, where John passed in 2019. Blanche passed away on December 21, 2025, less than 2 months after she celebrated her 100th birthday. Blanche is survived by her children, John Jr., Elaine, Pam, 10 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. Her family thanks her caregivers Terese Donnelly, Vitas Hospice and all the staff who cared for her at Discovery Village. Blanche will be buried next to her husband at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Mims Florida.
