Obituary

Billie Davis Kuhn

June 3, 1934-August 2, 2020

Melbourne Beach, FL

Billie passed away peacefully at home surrounded by the love of her family. She is survived by her loving husband James Kuhn and preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Floyd  Davis. She was also preceded in death by her parents Vada and Bill Tackett and five brothers and sisters.  She leaves in love: her 6 children, Debbie Hall (Toxey) Tampa, FL; Johnny Davis (Charlene) Manassas, VA;  Lynn Pearson (Stan) Melbourne Beach, FL; Karen Simmons (Bobby) Front Royal, VA; Larry Davis (Midge) Malabar, FL; Lee Davis (Kim) Front Royal, VA and her sister, Pauline Farmer of Midland, VA.  Billie was also the most beloved Nanny to 14 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews and two lifelong friends, Margie Shortridge and Cloia Payne.

Billie was born in Dwale, VA and raised in Grundy, Va.  After her marriage to Floyd, they moved to Manassas, VA where she raised her family. After her children were grown, she attended Northern VA Community College. Billie was a go-getter.  She owned an antique store and received her cosmetology license in her 50's.   She retired from the Fairfax County School Board and moved to Melbourne Beach, FL in 2002.

As a mother of six, she didn't know how to sit still. She loved traveling to Vegas, taking cruises and going to the Charlestown Racetrack with her sister. She played to win, even teaching her grandchildren her "Lady Luck" ways at either cards or board games. She didn't let you win, she taught you how to win.

Billie was a beautiful woman with a generous heart.  Her turquoise eyes, youthful radiance,  ever-present smile sparkled.  A southern cook through and through, she could "make a dish rag taste good." Everyone was welcomed at her table.  She wanted to share her recipes.  She'd whisper them to you and wink as if  you just learned a secret. Her biscuits and gravy could not be beat. Her son Johnny swears that Hardee's stole her recipe.

A multi-talented woman, Bille  could make clothes just by looking at a photo. She enjoyed searching yard sales and flea markets for treasures.  She could get the price down with just a charming smile. She had a wicked sense of humor, loved to laugh and tease her family.   Spending time surrounded by family was one of her greatest pleasures in life.  She would remember "that thing" about each person, making sure you felt special and acknowledged. She will  be missed by many, but her lessons of love will  live  on.

A celebration of Billie's life  will  be held on Tuesday, August 11 th , 1:00 PM at The Coastline Community Church located at 399 E. Eat Gallie Blvd.  Indian Harbour Beach, FL.  Interment to follow at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
