Obituary

Betty Jean Reeves passed into her heavenly eternal home on March 14, 2024.  She was 92.  She was born in Rogersville, TN and moved to Sharpes, FL in 1960.  Her life-long husband, Frank L. Reeves preceded her in death.  She will be greatly missed by her remaining sister, Shirley Hurd (David); as well as her seven children, Carolyn Hunt, Philip Reeves (Barbara), Angela Chapman (John), Deborah Smith (Mark), Gregory Reeves (Susan), Regina Daniels (Daryl), Johnny Reeves (Victoria); along with her 16 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; and her extended family, friends and neighbors.  She has left behind quite a legacy.

Betty will be forever remembered for her kindness toward others.  She never met a stranger, only new friends.  She was strong, witty, funny, resourceful, a nurturer, accepting of others, celebrating other's achievements, hospitable.  Family meant everything to her.  She tried to feed everyone walking through her door.

Betty loved all children.  She looked after them and fed them.  She worked hard all her life.  It was her way.  She was a champion for the down and out; she was an encourager even to those behind bars, writing them letters and sending love and encouragement.

Betty never worked full-time outside the home until her youngest child started school, and even then, she worked in that child's school cafeteria, ensuring the children were well fed and cared for.

Some of Betty's favorite charities were:  St. Jude Children's Hospital, the Wounded Warrior Project, and the SPCA.  In lieu of flowers, please donate to one of her favorite charities or to Health First Hospice, Brevard County, FL.  Health First Hospice took great care of Betty the last year of her life.
