Obituary

Betty May Bunce, 89, of Palm Bay p assed away Nov. 1 2022. She was born on 9/29/33 to Florence Mae Wallace Smith and Harold Lewis Smith in Buffalo NY.

She graduated from Corfu High School in NY. Then later attended nursing school at Meyers Hospital and obtained her registered Nursing License, working as an RN for 40 years. In 1955, she m arried Donald Jack Bunce of Niagara, NY. Betty and her husband had 7 children. They m oved to Brevard County in 1960 when he r husband went to work at the Space Center, were l ongtime residents of Brevard County in Rockledge, Melbourne and Palm Bay.

Betty retired after 40 years of service working as an RN in Recovery Room, Lithotripsy Center and Wound Care Center, for Brevard Hospital- later called Holmes Regional Health First. She was active in the community with Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and the many organizations her 7 children participated in. Family was the most important thing in her life . She enjoyed hosting holiday family dinners and birthdays for her grandchildren, as well as weekly Sunday family dinners with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and the many friends they brought to her home.

Her hobbies included quilting, gardening, painting with Bob Ross, reading, couponing and spending time with the family at her cabin in North Carolina.

Betty was widowed in 1996 after losing her husband Donald Jack Bunce, the love of her life. She is also predeceased by her daughter Carol Bunce, son Charles Wayne Bunce, brothers Jack and Harry Smith, and sister, Anna K. Parker

She is survived by her children Barbara Grant and husband Ronnie, Donald Jack Bunce Jr., William Lewis Bunce, Sandra Laster and husband David, and Virginia L. Bunce; s ix grandchildren; Travis Grant, Chris Grant, Thomas Snyder, Ladonna Laster, Tyler Garland and Aleah Laster; brother Wallace Smith and his wife Marty, and t welve great-grandchildren.

No services are scheduled at this time. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that any donations be made to either a charity of your choice that has affected your family or one of those below that affected our family.
