Obituary

Betty Diana Yvonne Smith was born on October 6th, 1950 to the late Edward and Valerie Smith. She entered this world on the beautiful island of New Providence (aka Nassau), Bahamas. A precocious strong willed nature developed in her as a child and she showed an aptitude for learning. She easily mastered her academics from elementary through high school with outstanding skills in mathematics and eventually entered the College of the Bahamas when she majored in and received her degree in Accounting. Betty Smith would meet and be swept off her feet by a handsome young Fox Hill gentleman named Cecil Armbrister. The two would be wedded in marriage in 1968. Their union would be blessed with four children.
Betty began her career in banking and would rise through the ranks to become Assistant Comptroller at the Bank of New Providence. As her life journey progressed with professional achievements and a growing family, she made a confession of faith and became a very active member of Sandilands Village Church of God. It was there that she became an Evangelist and this path would lead to the family's relocation. With the assistance of her mentor – the late Reverend James Campbell, the family left the clear turquoise beaches of Nassau and headed to the blue beaches of Hollywood, Florida in 1982 on a clergy visa.

The family's transition to Hollywood, Florida was made easier thanks to the love and support of the families at Hallandale Church of God and Abundant Life Ministries. Evangelist Armbrister was recognized for her leadership abilities and was ordained by the Church of God as a Pastor and sent out to launch West Hollywood Church of God. Pastor Armbrister's great passion was teaching the Word of God and she became a revivalist spreading the gospel and leading many to Christ. She was known for her fashion flair - bringing grace, elegance, and a beautiful smile wherever she went. Her physical body could no longer contain her, and she transcended this world on March 11, 2018.

Left behind to cherish the memories are: her husband, Cecil "Monty" Armbrister, Sr.; four children, Cecil "Juno" Armbrister, Jr. (Nora), Sherelle Armbrister Miller (Nadine), Marchello Armbrister (Barbara), and Nakisha Armbrister Thomas (Robert, Sr.); six grandchildren, Michaele Miller, Patrick Miller, Imani Thomas, Robert "RJ" Thomas, Jr., Ceyanna Armbrister, and Makayla Armbrister; two sisters, Gwendolyn Pratt and Donella Thompson of Nassau, Bahamas; a host of nieces, nephews, the beloved Armbrister family, her godchildren, many church families, and friends both near and far.
