Bette Jo Messick, 81, of Melbourne, FL passed away June 3, 2016 at the William Childs Hospice House in Palm Bay. She was born June 26, 1934 in Havana, FL to the late Josie Brown and Ruby Brown Mobley. She spent her childhood in Dade City, FL and moved to Melbourne, FL in 1974. She worked at Dictaphone and was very proud to be their only female machinist. After retirement, she pursued her joy of reading, visiting family members, collecting Tweety Bird items, lunching with friends, and spending time with her grandchildren/great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son, Carlton Leon Messick of Melbourne. Her sisters Rae Martin of Dayton, Ohio, Martha Singletary of Dade City, FL, Mary Massaro of Tampa, FL and her brother Leslie Brown of Tampa, FL. She is survived by her son, William Colin Messick Jr. of Dade City, daughter, Pamela Wildes and son-in-law, Kenneth Wildes of Palm Bay, grandchildren Joe Wensil of Palm Bay, Nicole Wensil Reyes of Casselberry, Samuel Messick of Dade City, Christopher Wildes of Seattle, and Ashley Wildes Delaney of Titusville, great-grandchildren Logan Wildes and Landon Wildes of Palm Bay and Brooklyn Castaldo of Titusville. A memorial service will be held at 1 pm at Wesley United Methodist Church with Pastor Doug McClain officiating. An online guestbook maybe signed at www.davisseawinds.com.
