Barbara Amy Dunbar, 88, passed peacefully into the hands of her lord and savior at home on January 3 ^rd , 2019, with family and friends by her side. She has been a member of the Protestant Faith throughout her life and remained a good Christian. She was born on February 8 ^th , 1930, in Englewood, NJ to Alexander John Campbell and Amy Arabella Smith. She grew up in Ridgefield, NJ, where she lived until she went off to Moravian College and earned a degree in Spanish.

Barbara married Douglas M. Dunbar Jr. in 1953. They lived in Venezuela and Brazil for seven years while Doug worked as a mining engineer, after which they relocated to Washington Twp., NJ. Together, they raised three children. When the children were older, she earned a Master's Degree in Education and taught 5 ^th grade at George White school in Hillsdale, NJ for 25 years. After the children left home, she and her husband would travel to Florida to see their daughter Deborah and visit friends in the area. They would also travel to Denver, CO and spend time with their daughter Lynn and then travel to Bozeman, MT to spend time with their son Doug.

In retirement Barbara was an elder in the church and sang in the choir. She was a volunteer for English as a second language, and was an expert in knitting, crocheting, sewing, and embroidery. In her later years, Barbara developed Alzheimer's disease and lived with the disease for many years, before passing. She is survived by her daughters Deborah Charnasky (Donald), Lynn Snyder (Steve), and son Doug (Gail). She was well loved by family, friends, and caregivers.

A private celebration of Barbara's life will be held at a date in the future. Burial will be at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, NJ.
