Barbara Ann Drake, known to friends as "Barb," 63, of Satellite Beach, Florida, passed away
Friday, July 26, 2019.
She was born to Benjamin Robert and June Dunn Drake on December 2, 1955 in Chicago,
Illinois. She moved to Miami, Florida with her family when she was three years old. Barbara
became the youngest person in the state of Florida to obtain her Real Estate Salesman's
License at just 18 years old.
Barbara continued in the Real Estate business, first working in Miami at the Keyes Company
alongside her mother, June, who was also a Realtor. She married Joseph Lucillo Arencibia Jr. in
1979, and they lived in Miami, Florida before relocating to Satellite Beach, Florida in 1995.
Barbara was a mother to two children, Angela and Andrew. Barbara and Joseph remained
married until 2001 when they divorced.
As a Realtor, Barbara eventually started her own business, Drake Real Estate, in which she
was both owner and operator. Barbara was a member of the National Association of Realtors
for over 40 years, and was awarded the distinguished honor and status of REALTOR
EMERITUS. In addition to helping people find their dream homes, Barbara enjoyed blessing
others with her baked goods, especially at Christmastime. A skilled and primarily self-taught
baker, Barbara was known for her oatmeal raisin cookies which were made from a recipe she
had created. She also made a variety of cookies, brownies, and cakes-all to the delight of her
children, family, friends, and even some of her real estate clients.
Barbara was preceded in death by her father, Benjamin, and her mother June, as well as her
former spouse, Joseph. Barbara is survived by her two children, daughter Angela Takeuchi
(Hiroshi) and son Andrew Arencibia (Megan). She is also survived by her two brothers Mitchell
Drake (Linda) and Christopher Drake, as well as several nephews and cousins.
Family, friends, and others whose lives Barbara touched are invited to the Davis-Seawinds
Funeral Home located at 560 Montreal Avenue, Melbourne, Florida, 32935 at 3:00 pm on
Friday, August 9th 2019 for a Celebration of Life Service.
