Obituary

Barbara Hope Dick, 89, of Melbourne, Florida, died peacefully on February 7, 2026, with family by her side.

Born in New York City in 1936, Barbara grew up in Miami and graduated from Miami Senior High School in 1954. After graduation, she returned to New York to begin her professional life, where she met her husband, Andrew Dick. The couple lived briefly in Hartford, Connecticut, before relocating to Miami in 1966. There, they raised two children and worked together in the family business, William Wisnesky Excavators, Inc. Barbara later held accounting-related positions with other employers in the Miami area.

Barbara was deeply devoted to the Ukrainian American community and to sharing its rich cultural traditions with her children and grandchildren. As a teenager, she was a founding member of the Ukrainian Dancers of Miami and later sang in the choir at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church for more than 30 years. After the passing of her husband, she relocated to Melbourne in 2004.

Throughout her life, Barbara placed great importance on social and community involvement. She was recognized for 50 years of service with the Beta Sigma Phi sorority, volunteered with the Brevard Symphony Orchestra Guild and belonged to the Red Hats Society.

Barbara is survived by her children, Andrea Cournoyer and Drew Dick, and her granddaughters, Julia Cournoyer and Mariana Cournoyer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew; her parents, Julia and William Wisnesky; and her brother, William J. Wisnesky.

Funeral services are being planned for this month and will available soon. Mass will be held at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church, 39 NW 57 Court, Miami, followed by interment at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Cemetery.

Family and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church, 39 NW 57 Court, Miami. Visitation is 9-10:15 a.m. followed by Mass at 10:30 a.m. Internment will take place inside the chapel at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Cemetery.
