Anna Ileen (Ritchason) De Filippo, 90, of Melbourne, FL passed away March 12, 2018. She was born in Macedonia, IL on January 30, 1928, the daughter of Anna (Baumgart) and Samuel Ritchason.  She is survived by her loving husband, Rogers DeFilippo, who she married on July 25, 1953 in Elgin, IL.

Anna was very much loved and will be greatly missed by her children Jo Ann (Tom) Benthusen; Tom DeFilippo; Dave DeFilippo; Janece Callahan; and Marc (Valerie) DeFilippo and her grandchildren Ann (Tom) Cline; Jamie (Jesica) Benthusen; Trasie (John) Danielle; Michael Ogborn; Jeff (Kelly) Callahan; Krista DeFilippo; Carl (Erica) Ogborn; and Amanda (Mindy) DeFilippo-Williams.  She is also survived by her great grandchildren Alex (Kelly) Benthusen; McKenzie Neckar; Logan and Piper Cline; Tommy, Jonah, and Luke Benthusen; Adria and Cameron Danielle; Jaden and Hailiah Ogborn; Lily and Parker Callahan; Aaron and Devyn Headdy, and Marisol Vargas.  We celebrated Anna's 90th birthday with a big party that included these loving family members.

She was preceded in death by her two sisters and five brothers.

Anna and Rogers moved their family from Illinois to Florida in the 1950's.  She became homesick for her Mom and sisters, so they decided to return to Illinois in the early 1960's.  After five long, miserable winters, they decided that the Florida sunshine was calling them home and returned for good.  Anna never regretted it.

In her glory years, Anna was an accomplished crafter, seamstress, an expert bowler with many awards and she celebrated Christmas with a different theme every year.  She also enjoyed working the polls for elections for many years. She loved all animals, either pets or wild, caring for the flowers and plants in her yard and home and exploring thrift stores for books and treasures.  She was an avid reader who kept a notebook listing all the books she had already read.  She held strong opinions and was always ready to defend what she believed to be true.  She was amazing.

For the last several years as her health failed and her memories became fuzzy, she enjoyed the devoted care of her husband, Rogers.  Her days were filled with teasing him and him teasing her as he cared for her and their home.  In her mind, she had great adventures without leaving her house.
