Alarico "Eric" Mascarenhas, from Palm Bay, FL departed this life Thursday, March 10, 2016 to meet his Heavenly Father and reunite with his beloved wife Rosemarie. He was born to the late Henry Mascarenhas and Nadine Ovcharenko on August 7, 1933 in Shanghai, China. He moved to Brazil in 1949 then to the United States to attend the University of Illinois, graduating in 1956 with a BS in Electrical Engineering. Eric was a veteran of the US Navy and worked for IBM for 35 years in Kingston and Poughkeepsie, NY. During that time he received his Masters Degree from Union College in 1977, joined the Knights of Columbus and taught literacy to prison inmates.
He retired and moved to Florida where he volunteered computer services to Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute from 1992-2005; was an Adjunct Instructor at Indian River Community College and Brevard Community College from 1991-1996; helped with day trips at the travel agency his wife worked for; became a Bereavement Minister at St. Joseph's Catholic Church; volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul and Health First Hospice among various other ventures.
He leaves memories to be cherished by sons, Michael (Wendy), Joseph (Barbara), Curtis (Rosemary) and Alarico "Eric" (Shawna); daughter, Deborah (Thomas); grandchildren Michael, Sean, Amanda, Jamie, Nicholas and Kelsi as well as several cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 18 at St. Joseph Catholic Church (Miller Street Church), 1422 Miller Street, Palm Bay, FL in Palm Bay, FL.
