Alan Joesph Kress born August 8, 1953 fondly known to all as "Alzy," passed away on September 19,2026 ; peacefully at his home in Lamplighter Village, Melbourne, Florida, with his beloved wife right by his side. Alzy is now at rest after facing a brave battle with liver cancer with strength and grace.

Originally hailing from East Detroit, Michigan ; Alzy brought his warm smile and easygoing nature south to Florida, creating a vibrant life filled with great memories and even better company. Throughout his career, he worked as a Machinist, earning the respect and friendship of those around him.

Alzy was happiest when surrounded by the sights and sounds of a good gathering. While he wasn't one to demand the spotlight, he was a master at kicking back, taking in the scene, and enjoying the party.

He loved getting in on a friendly game of Bunco or Left, Right, Center, and he was happiest when live music was playing—soaking in the tunes and watching everyone have a great time around him.

Family and friendship meant the world to Alzy. He is survived by his faithful wife and companion of over 40 years, Linda (affectionately known as "Lucy"), who was his anchor through it all; and also his sister, Cynthia Ann Kress ; his brother, Christopher Bernard Kress and a whole village of wonderful friends who will always treasure his steady presence and friendly spirit.

He was reunited in peace with his beloved parents; Mary and Bernard Kress and his brother; Gary Edward Kress.

To honor Alzy’s memory, a celebration of life will be held on September 27th at 3 PM at Lamplighter Village Carriage House ; a fitting tribute to a man who loved a good gathering.
